Cookie policy

Version 1.0
Effective date: 14 June 2026

This policy explains how the Switzerland Omics® website uses cookies and similar browser technologies.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored by a browser. They may support website operation, remember preferences or help measure how a website is used.

Browser local storage is a related technology that can retain information on a device without using a traditional cookie.

Cookies used by the website

The website may use:

  1. essential or functional browser storage needed to provide a requested feature;
  2. preference storage used to remember a user’s choices; and
  3. analytics cookies used by Google Analytics when analytics is enabled.

Google Analytics

In the production environment, Google Analytics is loaded when a Google Analytics identifier is configured.

Google Analytics may set first-party cookies, commonly including cookies with names beginning _ga, to distinguish visits and measure general website use.

Analytics information may include pages viewed, interactions, browser and device information, approximate location and visit timing.

Switzerland Omics does not intentionally include pedigree records, imported files, genomic findings or generated report contents in Google Analytics events.

Pedigree local storage

Pedigree may save a project snapshot in the browser’s local storage so that work can be restored later.

This local project information remains on the user’s device. It is not a Google Analytics cookie and is not intentionally transmitted to Switzerland Omics through the Pedigree application.

Further information is provided in the Pedigree privacy notice.

Managing cookies and local storage

You can use browser settings to block or delete cookies and clear local storage.

Blocking cookies may affect analytics and some website features. Clearing Pedigree local storage may permanently remove a locally saved project unless it has been exported or backed up elsewhere.

Where a website cookie preference control is available, it may also be used to manage optional cookies.

Where applicable law requires consent for non-essential analytics cookies, those cookies should be activated only after valid consent has been obtained.

Withdrawing consent should prevent future optional analytics storage but does not automatically remove information already processed by an analytics provider. Existing cookies can be deleted using browser settings.

Changes

This policy may be updated when website technologies or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will be published on this page.
