This policy explains how personal data may be processed when you visit the Switzerland Omics® website, contact Switzerland Omics or use a general online resource.

A service or research tool may have an additional privacy notice. Where a specific notice applies, it supplements this policy.

Information processed

Depending on how you use the website, the following information may be processed:

  1. technical information sent by your browser or network, such as an IP address, browser type, device information, requested page, referring page and time of access;
  2. website usage information collected through analytics, where analytics is enabled;
  3. information you provide in an email, form or other communication;
  4. records needed to respond to enquiries, maintain security and operate the website; and
  5. information described in a service-specific privacy notice.

Switzerland Omics does not sell personal data.

Purposes

Information may be processed to:

  1. provide and operate the website;
  2. maintain security, prevent misuse and diagnose technical problems;
  3. understand general website use and improve content and performance;
  4. respond to enquiries and communications;
  5. establish, exercise or defend legal rights; and
  6. comply with applicable legal obligations.

Analytics

The production website may use Google Analytics when a Google Analytics identifier is configured.

Google Analytics may collect technical and usage information, including pages viewed, interactions, browser and device information, approximate location and visit timing. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies.

Switzerland Omics does not intentionally send pedigree records, imported files, genomic findings or generated report contents to Google Analytics.

Personal data is processed where necessary to operate and secure the website, respond to a request, pursue a legitimate interest, comply with a legal obligation or where valid consent has been provided.

Where applicable law requires consent for non-essential analytics cookies, consent should be obtained before those analytics cookies are activated.

Recipients and international processing

Website hosting, analytics, email and technical service providers may process limited personal data on behalf of Switzerland Omics or under their own terms.

These providers may process data in Switzerland or other countries. Where required, appropriate contractual or legal safeguards should be used for international transfers.

Google Analytics is provided by Google. Google’s own terms and privacy information also apply to its processing.

Retention

Personal data is retained only for as long as reasonably required for the relevant purpose, security, record keeping or legal obligations.

Analytics retention is determined by the configured analytics settings and the service provider’s applicable rules.

Communications may be retained while an enquiry is active and afterwards where reasonably required for follow-up, records or legal protection.

Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request:

  1. information about personal data processed about you;
  2. access to that personal data;
  3. correction of inaccurate personal data;
  4. deletion or restriction of processing;
  5. objection to certain processing;
  6. withdrawal of consent for future processing; and
  7. data portability where applicable.

A request may be sent to admin@switzerlandomics.ch. Switzerland Omics may need enough information to verify the request and identify the relevant records.

You may also have the right to contact a competent data protection authority.

Security

Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect the website and personal data. No internet transmission or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Users are responsible for protecting their own devices, browsers, accounts and exported files.

External services

The website may link to external websites or use third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own notices and are not controlled by Switzerland Omics.

Children

The website is not directed specifically at children. A child should not submit personal data without appropriate permission and supervision.

Changes

This policy may be updated. The current version and effective date will be published on this page.
